What could you expect today of this macaroni club? The awareness that the order of the world that you knew has collapsed. The old world has left us without a future. So, within this abyss we try to breathe. We try to take a deep breath when suddenly our breath starts to stutter. Breath has failed aswell. If within the chaos of the ruinous, breath becomes impossible… what to do? How can we not give in to despair? These are the questions that guide us. We might have answers of our own, but to avoid a moral discourse that only resembles what was once the World, we attempt a re-signification: Today we allow ourselves to be presence. Not merely “present” but “presence” as something that - and taking the metaphor of breath - inspires. To affect the other, generously. To allow for the “present” to be opened up - inspiration opens gaps within the “present” time. You might sense something else that is not yet here. If the old world has robbed us of a future, how can we continue but through something like this?
When one says that the future was robbed, one means there is a common horizon that was lost. Meaning is precarious, abstracted from the world, turned into a gambling of catastrophe at the stock market, or an illusion of democracy, or even a poisonous air. Reality was turned into an abyss and we were left to cope with chaos, sold this idea that no bridges were possible in this same abyss. But just listen to it - there is something vibrating when one allows “presence” and “inspiration”. Vibrating possibilities that might show us how to return to the body, how to return to one another. We are tired, and in tiredness we care for our collapse. This is something we queers have been taught. To hold hands and summon each other’s breath - to breathe into the living what the dead can no longer continue. And at this moment, our presence is a presence of pleasure. That is how we return to what is ours. We, the effeminates, lubricate our presence so as to flirt with the ruins of the past - we seduce because seduction is a path of inspiration.
To be in the presence of - that is our horizon. To envision art making that can dance over the remnants of what once was and , instead of producing anxiously, awaits for the re-enchantment of the world to come about. And because every collapse is a transition, we give in to this temporality. We accept the failure. All of it is Futile, to say the least. That is what our effeminacy today holds dear. We, the effeminates, aspire to be something else than what we are. We aspire for other temporalities. And to aspire is to await inspiration while at the same time inspiring others.
We do not aspire for something that grows, but for something that leaves the lightest footprint. Like dandies, we tend towards an immaterial opulence. And this could be seen as “pretentious”, because we dare to move beyond what we know. We embarked on a path of daring to abandon ourselves, even if ridicule awaits us. We wish to make ourselves foggy, therefore, weird to others who demand we explain - which means - demand a certain conformity. But, as Tiqqun said “fog makes revolt possible” - and so we ask of you to let go aswell. We ask for opaqueness and ambiguity. We ask of you to align with this effeminacy of the spirit, which is to say “get rid of yourself”. And that is where LARPING comes about: We opted for the form of LARP (live action role play) so as to experiment with performing something other than ourselves, to experiment relationships between ourselves and our audiences that might feel awkward but that enacts a fantasy that plants a seed inside of us. A seed that whispers that the world could be a different place if only we could all just choose it. LARPing allows us to dare to say that we don’t want to burden others with our authenticity. We want our identities to collapse. We want to suspend competition so as to play all together. And while we play we remember that
every collapse
is
a transition so
transition with us
and become yet
again
LARP (live action role play) is a character-driven type of gameplay that is connected in the physical world (as opposed to a video game, for example). It combines improvisation, gaming, cosplay, role play and it often involves some sort of speculative social interaction. It is very much a fantastical genre, used for historical re-enactments or simulations. The mechanics of a LARP are similar to a common role-playing game.
